Conscious sedation

This is an anaesthetic technique in which patients who require it are administered a combination of one or more drugs that cause a slight depression of the central nervous system. The patient does not completely lose consciousness and maintains verbal contact with the dentist, as his or her cooperation is required during the treatments (opening the mouth, biting, swallowing saliva).

The patient enters a state of relaxation, well-being and slight drowsiness that allows them to tolerate the dental treatment they are undergoing. Conscious sedation reinforces the analgesic control that the dentist performs with the infiltration of local anaesthetics into the oral cavity.
